Our Online Classes: Summer 2020

Here's our current timetable. The sessions are live and interactive! Information on how to join these can be found at the foot of this page. Thanks and looking forward to seeing you soon!

1.00pm – 2.30pm:   Music, Songs and Memories

Join us for a good old singalong from the comfort of your couch. Sing, hum, play, tap your foot, or just smile and wave. Hosted by the fabulous Chris Huntley. Requests welcome!

2.30pm – 3.30pm:   Strength and Balance (Fall and Osteoporosis Prevention)

The fabulous Augusto is taking us through our paces online. This is a really great class which is really worth giving a go. Augusto is an encouraging teacher who really knows his stuff, the classes are always fun and inspirational with plenty of adaptations offered no matter what level you are working at.

4.00pm – 5.00pm:   Ukulele (via Jitsi rather than Zoom)

For our current Ukulele players – come and join Tim and rest of the group to continue building the skills you have been working on in a relaxed and informal format. It would be great to see as many of you as possible.

10.30am – 11.45am:   Tap

Going back to basics and then practicing some of our favourite routines. Don’t want to disturb your neighbours? Why not do it soft shoe instead? Beginners and intermediate tappers welcome.

Film and TV Discussion Club:   Coming soon!

10.00am - 11.00am:   Strength and Balance

Another great class by Augusto; designed to develop core strength and avoid falls.

11.45am – 12.45pm:   Funky Disco

Come shake your groove thang in this fun, friendly, funky disco class. Simona is a ray of sunshine with vivacious energy and a big smile. She never fails to disappoint with her fabulous disco playlist! Whether you are a dance floor champion or have 3 left feet, the aim of this class is dancing for the fun of it in the company of others. Sweat bands and lycra optional!

2.00pm – 3.20pm:   Creative Dance

For those with a little more dance or movement experience. This is a lovely class based on contemporary dance technique. An inspiring warm up with a lot of focus on delicious expansive movement, followed by an inspirational routine to get your creative juices flowing.

3.30pm – 5.00pm:   Book Club (online and by telephone)

Have you been reading a great book, short story or poem recently? Why not share it with others and be inspired by what others have been reading? This online group is a slight twist on the usual book club in that you will be discussing different pieces each week; there is no need to go to the library or read a certain book to join. Paula also shares some works live via audio book for everyone to listen to at once. A great escape into another world (or worlds!) during an otherwise unsettling time, and a great way to catch up with other members. If you have other Claremont friends who are not online then let them know they can also join by calling in on landline or mobile phone.

10.00am – 11.30am:   Gospel Choir

10.45am – 11.45am:   Tai Chi

What better way to increase relaxation than Tai Chi with our lovely (and very Zen!) Martial Arts master, Dave? Tai Chi is a great gentle workout for the body and mind. It helps increase both flexibility and strength whilst working on breathing techniques to aid relaxation. This non-combative martial art also helps to relieve the physical effects of stress upon the body and promote good mental and physical fitness. I tried this the other day and loved it, I highly recommend trying it!

12.00pm – 1.00pm:   Salsa

Come join the fabulous Ewelina for some seriously fun Salsa energy. Always lively and friendly, for dancers of all experience. No partner needed, no experience needed, bring yourself, some water and get ready to party!
