Brain Health Programme

Brain Health Programme

What happened?

Claremont’s Brain Health programme was a six-month pilot that took place between August 2025 – January 2026. It explored how community arts centres might act as a hub for dementia risk reduction activities in later life.

We wanted to know:

Could community arts centres act as a specialised setting for dementia risk reduction in later life?

What resources would be needed to support the delivery of such programmes in practice?

How did it work?

We recruited 20 older adults, who collectively attended a personalised programme of over 165 free arts, fitness and social activities. The programme was integrated into Claremont’s existing arts and wellbeing offer and facilitated regular opportunities for social connection, physical activity, and learning new skills (key factors shown to reduce dementia risk).

What did we find out?

From our understanding following the completion of the pilot programme, community programmes promoting Brain Health work well and generate most engagement when they are: Fun Low-cost  In-person Physical.
