Support many hundreds of older people
Half of our income comes from hall hire and room rentals. Sadly, several of our tenants have left, post-Covid, and it will take us time to replace the income from those sources. Can you help us to keep our amazing services running?!
We deliver substantial evidence-based improvements in psychological well-being and reduction in isolation. Absolutely key to our work is supporting socially isolated older people to join a friendly community, to strengthen their connections, and to facilitate people fulfilling their potential. As a team, we achieve this by working in a relationship-focused way, creating a welcoming environment where every member feels like they matter and belong. One of our members said: “I love the staff and regard them as my friends.” Our programme of thirty-six groups and classes is aimed at fostering friendship as well as personal exploration and development. Our weekly and special events provide an additional opportunity for people to build a regular social life, reducing isolation. Our peer support groups provide a safe space to share experiences with others in a similar situation. Ruby, a Claremont member said of us: “Loneliness ends the moment I walk through the doors of Claremont.”
We are a deeply inclusive community. Below are our members’ answers to the question, “What (if anything) is different about Claremont compared to other centres?”:
‘The quality and quantity of classes and groups makes Claremont special compared to other centres’.
‘We are treated as equals, not a load of naughty children, e.g. the staff at other centres assume we all have dementia!’
‘Vulnerable people are made very welcome, not just “box ticking”.’
‘I feel that I belong.’
