Last Night of The Proms

Please note that we do our best to keep this calendar up-to-date but with so much going on at Claremont, we occasionally drop the ball. It’s unlikely for example that we’ll be quick enough to change the timetable if a tutor cancels at short notice. If you want to be certain about a class running, please call us! Tel: 020 7837 3402. Please also note that tickets bought online for our classes are non-refundable, for that day/class class only, and cannot be used for a different day or carried forward to another class!

Last Night of The Proms

September 13, 2024 - 2:00 pm

About the event

Join us for a Last Night Of The Proms instrumental concert by the wonderful Eledone String Quartet!

This concert will feature a repertoire of classic, uplifting, well-known Proms songs to sing along to. Special care has been taken to emit songs with lyrics that are imperialistic, subjugating or stating superiority over other nations. This is in efforts to ensure a positive, celebratory experience for all.

Eledone Quartet are a newly formed group of musicians with a wide variety of musical backgrounds, consisting of Angelika Stangl, Julia Hart, Hannah Gardiner and Alistair Baumann.

About the musicians:
Angelika Stangl is a multi-instrumentalist specialising in historical performance, is the founder and Principal Conductor of the Johannes Ensemble, and this year she looks forward to playing at the Wigmore Hall with Florilegium.

Julia Hart played solo violin for the musical ‘Allegiance’, which ran at the Charing Cross Theatre, and regularly plays with Brixton Chamber Orchestra who combine Classical with Grime music!

Hannah Gardiner is a baroque and modern violist based in London who splits her time as a performer between Baroque viola, on which she has played with groups including the English Baroque Soloists, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, and La Nuova Musica, and the modern viola, primarily as a Chamber Musician.

Alistair Baumann is a modern and baroque cellist, whose performing highlights include concerts with the BBC Singers, Mayfield Festival Orchestra, Thomas Tallis Society, Waterperry Opera Festival and at the York Early Music Festival.
