LGBTQ+ and Friends Coffee Morning

Please note that we do our best to keep this calendar up-to-date but with so much going on at Claremont, we occasionally drop the ball. It’s unlikely for example that we’ll be quick enough to change the timetable if a tutor cancels at short notice. If you want to be certain about a class running, please call us! Tel: 020 7837 3402. Please also note that tickets bought online for our classes are non-refundable, for that day/class class only, and cannot be used for a different day or carried forward to another class!

LGBTQ+ and Friends Coffee Morning

June 5, 2024 - 10:30 am

About the event

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) Pride Month is currently celebrated each year in the month of June to honour the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan. The Stonewall Uprising was a tipping point for the Gay Liberation Movement in the United States” (Library of Congress, 2023).

Pride Month is a time for each individual to be proud of who they are and the unique offerings they have to bring to the world!

As Claremont always endeavours to be an inclusive and welcoming community, we would like to invite Claremonteers to attend this social gathering, whether you identify as LGBTQ+, or as an ally of the community.

“To be an LGBTQ+ ally is easy. If you agree in equality and fair treatment in society of people who identify as LGBTQ+, then already you are an ally” (Stonewall, 2017).

This will be a very relaxed event, providing an opportunity to meet other like-minded members. Tea, coffee, cakes and other light refreshments will be provided, along with comfy seating and background music.

This is our second LGBTQ+ focused event, following our first LGBTQ and Friends Coffee Morning last year which attracted approximately 10 members. It was a wonderful, relaxed afternoon where some Claremonteers met for the first time. Some even opted to share their stories and lived experiences with others during casual conversation.

We would love for you to come along and join us in supporting equity and equality. This event is free to attend, no need to sign-up, simply turn up on the day.

Friends and family are most welcome, should you want to bring someone along with you.
