Leave a Gift in Your Will

Claremont is changing lives and with the help of your legacy donation we could expand to reach even more people and help change the lives of many more people.

In the past decade Claremont has gone from strength to strength. In 2002, we had less than 20 members attending the centre, only 4 classes and a lunch club. We now have over 800 active members, a Pre-COVID annual footfall of more than 20,000 thousand visits, and a typical class timetable of over 36 weekly groups. Above all, our work is centred around building authentic, meaningful relationships. We listen, treat people as equals, and always try our best to understand the needs and perspectives of others.

We’ve been pioneers of Social Welfare programmes since our establishment in 1902 and don’t plan on slowing down now. In May 2017, we founded the Flourishing Lives Coalition with the aim to develop the standard of organisations working with older people by providing training. This has grown into a cohort of 300+ institutions, including The British Museum, Barbican, Tate Modern, OpenAge and Age UK franchises, as well as smaller community centres, arts organisations, and individual practitioners. The Coalition is the vanguard of progressive and aspirational services for older people.

We want keep on pushing forward. We would like to grow to include more national and international partnerships, to start a campaign against ageism, to add more sessions and different classes and groups, to develop a national partnership of online services for those unable to leave their homes, and for us to reach more people in Islington and London-wide. All of this while maintaining a standard of excellence in our weekly activities. If you choose to give us a legacy donation, you can specify how you want your donation to be used and we will respect your wishes.

We understand how special your will is and appreciate that family and friends will (and should!) come first. But once you have taken care of those close to you, if our work has touched your life or the life of a loved one, please remember us with a legacy donation. This will enable us to go on to help many more. There is no obligation to tell us about your gift, and you can change your mind at any time.

You need to know our charity name, address and registered charity number:

You need a solicitor

Claremont members get a 15% discount from local solicitors Boltburdon. Just let them know you’re a Claremont member when you contact them. You can read more about their will services at  https://www.boltburdon.co.uk/yourlife/wealth-planning/

Get into contact with their will team by emailing WEP@boltburdon.co.uk or calling 020 7288 4700.

Their address is: Providence House, Providence Place, London, N1 0NT

We can also suggest an excellent and very inexpensive will writing service called Farewill.

Farewill offers online wills for as little as £90 or £120 for doing it over the telephone. You can have it all done in about 15 minutes if your wishes are straightforward. Please take a look at their website to see what they offer. (They also offer probate services.)

Many charities survive because people like you leave money to them. In fact, for most bigger charities, legacies are by far the largest source of income. We very much hope you will consider us – thank you!
