Life Drawing
Tutor: Bella Franks
This class will guide you through the fundamentals of Life Drawing. The class has a warm and welcoming atmosphere, that builds on a range of techniques, in a relaxed environment. The life model performs a variety of poses, whilst the tutor gives guidance to learn the different methods of life drawing. Suitable for all abilities, this class facilitates creative expression through a relaxing practise.

Death Cafe
At a Death Cafe people, often strangers, gather to eat cake, drink tea and discuss death. The objective is ‘to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives’. A Death Cafe is a group directed discussion of death with no agenda, objectives or themes. It is a discussion group not a grief support or counselling session.

Coming of Age Exhibition at the Wellcome Collection
‘The Coming of Age’ explores experiences and perceptions of ageing, from adolescence to later life, and asks how societies can adapt for us all to age better.
‘The Coming of Age’ features 150 artworks and objects, from historical artefacts to works by contemporary artists including John Coplans, Serena Korda, Suzanne Lacy, Anna Maria Maiolino, Rory Pilgrim, Paula Rego and more.
Bringing together different perspectives from art, science and popular culture, this exhibition challenges assumptions about life stages and asks what greater longevity means for all of us.
Claremont members are invited to join us on a special guided tour of the exhibition at the Wellcome Collection.

Art & Poetry Workshop with Ola Apata
Join long-standing and fabulous Claremont volunteer Ola for an art workshop inspired by the poem ‘After Apple Picking’ by Robert Frost.
Drawing inspiration from the poem, partipants will be invited to create an artwork using line drawing, collage and oil pastel techniques.
Ola is a practicing artist and has a passion for community engagement and art education.

Claremont Carnival Party
Celebrate Notting Hill Carnival weekend at Claremont!
Join us for an afternoon of music, food and dancing celebrating one of London’s iconic parties and Europe’s largest street festival. Notting Hill Carnival celebrates Carribean culture, heritage and community. We welcome everyone to come along and celebrate 60 years of carnival with us!

Complete Introduction to Castanets Workshop
Join Claremont’s Flamenco & Castanets tutor, Lucia Caruso, for a complete beginner’s workshop on Castanets.
In this workshop you will get familiar with the castanets and explore basic rhythms.
Playing the castanets supports coordination, focus, and the connection between hand and mind through rhythmic finger movement.
Lucia will have 10 pairs of Castanets for members to borrow, that will be given on a first come, first served basis.

Sort It Out September
September is a time for fresh starts. Join us for a welcoming, discussion-based workshop where we’ll explore how the spaces we live in can influence how we think, feel and function. Through shared conversation and practical ideas, we’ll look at how small, manageable changes can help create more organised homes and build momentum for positive change.
The workshop will feature a Senior Decluttering Practitioner from MRS Living Hackney and the Wellbeing Coaching Lead from Bright Lives from Islington Council.

Character Comedy & Improvisation Workshop with Roísín O’Mahony
Fancy being someone else for a while?
Join Róisín, one half of cult comedy duo Róisín and Chiara, for a workshop exploring character comedy and improvisation.
We’ll use physical comedy techniques and simple improvisation games to explore how stepping into another character’s shoes can help us loosen up, release creative tension and, most importantly, have a giggle.
No experience necessary for this workshop. Come as you are, get involved as much or as little as you like, and see if there are any unexpected characters hidden up your sleeve!

Flora & Fauna Art Workshop with Laura Browne
Join our very own Front of House Coordinator Extraordinaire, Laura, for this extra special art workshop looking at patterns in textiles, with a focus on flora and fauna.
Exploring repeat patterns using the “folded paper technique”, Laura will guide you to create your very own hand drawn repeat pattern. This workshop is inspired by nature and organic forms, drawing on artworks by William Morris and the Liberty art fabrics.
Laura is a practicing artist who finds beauty in the organic, weaving artefacts and objects with nature into surreal compositions. Laura enjoys using fine line pens to create intricate and delicate designs. A graduate of Leeds College of Art, Laura studied Printed Textiles and Surface Pattern Design.
