Art Fusion
Tutor: Martine Greyling
Explore your inner artist and creativity with Art Fusion! Whether you are at the very beginning of your artist journey or an experienced artist, this class is for you. Classes will focus on artists like Kerry James Marshall or Georgia O’Keefe, or on different art movements and techniques like Surrealism or Still Life.
All materials are provided.

Strength and Fitness (at St Mary’s)
Tutor: Sheldon Flemming
Held at St Mary’s Gym (Upper St.), Strength & Fitness is a workout class using gym equipment under the guidance and support of our tutor. Members can take part in the session by either doing a guided workout, or by focussing on their own workout with the range of equipment available.
Wear comfortable clothing and trainers.

Ballet – General and Intermediate
Tutor: Enora Tribotté
We have two levels of Ballet classes available.‘Intermediate Ballet’ is suitable for those with some experience. ‘Ballet’ is open level and taught at a slightly slower pace – suitable for improvers and beginners. This is a fun and inclusive class so everyone can learn at their own pace.

Open Studio
Following Art Fusion, this is a self-led session for members to work on their own creative projects. Feel free to bring in your own pieces to work on or start something new. You do not need to attend Art Fusion to attend Open Studio.

Claremont Singers
Tutor: Evie Wakefield
These fun and lively sessions will rehearse a wide variety of songs old and new, from modern to classic pop songs, musicals and jazz standards. No experience is necessary – come along and enjoy the power of song!

Community Crafting
Tutor: Martine Greyling
Community Crafting invites members to work together on craft projects to create a warm and welcoming environment in our building and to make Claremont’s walls sing! Our regular tutor Martine will lead on projects lasting 6 – 8 weeks.

Strength and Balance classes help with fall and osteoporosis prevention and bone health. Expect a challenging but achievable full body workout, perfect for those who enjoy light exercise in a safe and supportive environment. The Intermediate class builds on the foundations learnt in the Beginner class, has complex movements and faster transitions between exercises. Please note that this class includes floorwork.
Wear comfortable clothing and trainers. PARQ form required for first class.

Watercolour

Our Watercolour class invites you to discover the joy and versatile nature of watercolour painting, a medium celebrated for its transparency, luminosity, and spontaneous qualities. This class is for all levels, from beginners to those looking to refresh their existing skills.

Strength and Balance – Beginner

Gospel Choir
Tutor: Matthew Lucas
This fun and lively choir class will introduce you to the joy of gospel singing. No experience is necessary, come along and enjoy the power of song!

Tap Dance
Tutor: Jaimee Welsh
Tap Dance is an exciting, percussive, rhythmical dance form and is a theatrical art form often seen on screen and stage in musicals.
Come and have a go, no experience is necessary, this class is suitable for beginners.
Wear comfortable clothing and tap shoes are ideal but you can do the class with hard soled shoes or clean trainers with little grip. We have a limited number of tap shoes to hire.

Beyond Broadway
Tutor: Jaimee Welsh
A celebration of Musical Theatre: from Broadway to the West End, to the Golden Age, to Classic Movies and more. This class is for a more experienced dancer, to embrace character, style and flair whilst learning various dance styles including Jazz, Latin and Lyrical!

Line Dancing – Beginner and Intermediate
Tutor: Edurne Goldaracena
Line Dancing is a joyful and upbeat movement class, learning dances in formation to a variety of music genres from Country, Soul, Pop and more. Expect routines inspired by dances such as The Charleston and The Grapevine. Beginner is perfect for those completely new to Line Dancing and Intermediate is for those who are more experienced.

Contemporary Dance
Tutor: Kirsty Purnell
Unlike traditional dance styles that follow strict structures, contemporary dance is all about fluidity, improvisation, and self-expression blending elements from ballet, modern dance, jazz, and beyond. Join this class to explore how movement can be used to create, communicate and collaborate. No experience is necessary!

Tai Chi
Tutor: Dave Courtney Jones
Join our Tai Chi class to increase your flexibility, strength and to practice breathing and meditation techniques. Tai Chi helps to relieve stress, promoting good physical and mental health. This session is a gentle workout for the mind, body and spirit.

Salsa
Tutor: Nuno Sabroso
Salsa is a vibrant, energetic Latin partner dance with Afro-Cuban roots. Our lively class is built around partner work, but don’t worry, you do not need a partner to attend! Regular partner switching throughout makes everybody feel comfortable whilst making new friends. No experience is necessary.

Kung Fu – Beginner
Tutor: Dave Courtney Jones
Kung Fu’s many health and wellbeing benefits range from posture, breath-work, coordination to balance, core strength and muscle tone. Members will not only learn Kung Fu moves but also the Chinese terms and histories associated with each movement. Please note this is a non-contact martial arts class.

Ballroom Dance – Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced
Tutors: Nick Breakspear
We have three Ballroom classes each week catering to all abilities and experience, from complete beginners to the more experienced. Ballroom is a partner dance class, however, you do not have to come with a partner. Regular partner switching throughout makes everybody feel comfortable whilst making new friends. Dances include Waltz, Foxtrot, Cha-Cha, Samba, Rumba and more.

Pilates
Tutor: Laura Caro
Pilates has many health and wellbeing benefits include increased flexibility, strength, balance, posture and alignment. This class promotes mindfulness, awareness of the body and helps with injury prevention. No experience is necessary but please note that this class includes plenty of floor work.

Yoga

Our Yoga class includes a range of chair-based, floor-based and standing movements. Practicing Yoga improves health, wellbeing and physical fitness and increases your flexibility, core strength and balance. No experience is necessary.

Open Social Club
Open Social Club is a self-led group run by Claremont members. Come along and hang out with other members, play scrabble, do a puzzle, paint, draw or sew and, most importantly, have a cup of tea and a chat!

Ukulele – Beginner and Intermediate
Tutor: Marcus Cain
We have two weekly Ukulele classes: Beginner and Intermediate. Come along to Beginner’s if you are completely new or need a refresh. Join Intermediate Ukulele if you have some experience of playing Ukulele chords and tabs.
Please bring your own Ukulele or we have a limited number to hire from the front desk.

Friday
Flamenco Dance – Beginner and Intermediate
Tutor: Lucia Caruso
Flamenco is a passionate Spanish art form from Andalusia. Flamenco dance classes focuss on dance, “baile”, where members will learn how to express emotions through intricate rhythms, percussive footwork, expressive movements and dramatic postures. The Beginner class is for those who are new to Flamenco and Intermediate is for those who are more experienced.
Wear comfortable clothing and bring castanets (if you have them).

Castanets – Intermediate
Tutor: Lucia Caruso
Castanets are used alongside dancing Flamenco to create rhythmic patterns to accent dance moves and gestures. Our class teaches various rhythms and movements with insights into the spirit and culture of Flamenco. This class is for those who have some experience of playing Castanets and is not suitable for beginners.
Castanets are provided, but please do bring your own.

Coffee Morning
Come and join the Coffee Morning held in our Member’s Area. Meet other members, have a hot drink, a biscuit and a chat. A great way to start your Friday! This is a self-led session where members can simply drop in.

Creative Writing
Tutor: Nichola Charalambou
Creative Writing celebrates the process and joy of writing and self-expression. Themes are set using exercises and prompts to inspire members to explore different writing styles. Sharing work is optional, and members are welcome to continue their writing in their own time.
